Are You Ready For Some Football?
After the long off season, where we were not even sure if this season would even take place I know I can answer that question with a resounding YES. Normally I am able to pass the months following the Super Bowl with free agent signings, then the draft, mini camps, and before I know it preseason football is here. This season all I had was labor talks, not quite what I was looking for. Thankfully the owners and the players got their crap together and the season was saved.
The past month has proven to be a great time to a football fan as the free agency period has been taking place at the same time as training camps, roosters have been filled out and some big names have landed in new locations. Free agency has created a number of exciting questions that the start of the regular season will help us to answer. How will the signings of Ochocinco and Albert Haynesworth work out for the Patriots? – With the Pats track record my guess is that these moves will work out for them (though if they don’t either player be quickly released). Will the revamped Eagles defense with the additions Nnamdi Asomugha, and Dominique Rodgers Cromartie be a dominate force to match their offensive fire power? – My gut tells me that it might take a week or two for this defense to truly gel but I believe that this will be a very good defense maybe even one of the best in the league. And the question that I am most interested in, will Plaxico Burress be able to successfully transition back into the NFL following his time spent in prison? – As a die hard Jets fan I am really hoping that he will be able to ddisplay many of the receiving skills that he was known for when he was the Giants number one receiver.
Regardless of how these questions are answered this season I know that I am just happy that I will be able to enjoy NFL games this fall, and that the lockout did not affect the NFL season at all.
Of course with the NFL season comes the fantasy season, so join us here for the latest news and we will give you our fantasy advice as well. We are all looking forward to losing our Sundays to football once again. We hope everyone has a good year.
